Color & grain

• Heartwood: Light yellow to pale grey, sometimes with greenish, reddish or brownish shades Color varies depending on location and growth habit.

• Sapwood: Hardly distinguishable from heartwood, as poplar is usually rich in sapwood.

• Grain: Extremely irregular, with swirled lines and eyes.

• Hardness: Janka hardness approx. 1,300 – 2,400 N very soft, easy to machine
• Weight: Density approx. 370-480 kg/m³ in air-dried condition
• Durability: Not permanently suitable for indoor use only

Frequent uses

• Veneer and decorative panels: Particularly popular for fine surfaces in furniture, wall paneling, car interiors (e.g. in luxury vehicles), guitar tops or piano cases.
• Furniture construction: Epoxy resin table tops, drawer fronts, decorative panels mostly in combination with more stable beams or multiplex.
• Marquetry & handicrafts: Exclusive material for inlays, jewelry boxes, game boards, knife and pen handles.
• Woodturning: Turned bowls, vases and boxes are very decorative due to their expressive grain.
