Color & grain

• Heartwood: After the steaming process, the wood takes on a more even, darker color – from medium brown to chocolate brown, with a slightly reddish or purplish sheen.
• Sapwood: Very light, almost yellowish or grayish, but is usually removed during processing.
• Grain: The grain is usually straight, but can also be wavy or irregular. The steamed variant often has an even, finer structure, which makes the wood look particularly elegant. Small, decorative features, such as cross-graining, can occur, giving the wood an interesting, aesthetic depth.

• Durability: Steamed walnut has good resistance to moisture and insects. However, it is preferred for indoor use as it is not fully weather resistant and requires careful maintenance.

Frequent uses

• Furniture: Steamed walnut is particularly popular for high-quality pieces of furniture such as tables, chairs, shelves, cabinets and beds. The even coloring and elegant look make it a favorite in furniture construction, especially for classic and modern furniture.
• Interior fittings: It is used for wall cladding, flooring, ceiling cladding and high-quality staircases. Due to its stable structure and attractive coloring, it is also very popular in interior design.
• Veneers: Steamed European walnut is often used in the form of veneers for the manufacture of fine furniture and interior paneling. It is particularly valued for its fine grain and coloring.
• Joinery & inlays: Due to its stability and the possibility of achieving a fine surface finish, walnut is used in the production of high-quality joinery and inlays.
• Musical instruments: In certain cases, steamed walnut is also used in the construction of musical instruments such as guitars and piano keys.
