Color & grain

• Heartwood: The heartwood has an impressive color spectrum ranging from reddish-brown to purple and dark stripes. It darkens slightly over time and develops a warm, elegant appearance.
• Sapwood: Very light, almost white and clearly separated from the heartwood.
• Grain: The grain is usually fine, even and slightly wavy, giving the wood an elegant appearance. The fine color transitions give the wood a beautiful grain.

• Hardness: Janka hardness: ~ 7,100 N Plum wood is hard and resistant, but not brittle.

• Durability: The wood is moderately weather-resistant but is generally only used indoors.

• Woodturning & handicrafts: Due to its fine structure, plum wood is often used for artistic woodturning, knife handles, writing utensils and jewelry.
• Furniture construction: Smaller, exclusive pieces of furniture such as side tables, inlays or drawer fronts benefit from the noble coloring of the wood.
