Color & grain

• Heartwood: The heartwood of the Swiss stone pine has a light, yellowish to reddish-white color, which can darken slightly over time.
• Sapwood: The sapwood hardly differs in color from the heartwood, as the Swiss stone pine has a largely uniform wood appearance.
• Grain: Swiss stone pine wood has a calm, even grain with fine, often slightly wavy lines. There are often small, dark knots that make the wood particularly characteristic. The texture is soft and fine.

• Hardness: Janka hardness: ~1,560 N Swiss stone pine is a very soft wood and is one of the lightest softwoods.
• Weight: Low density, approx. 400-450 kg/m³ in the dried state.
• Durability: Swiss stone pine has a medium resistance to weathering, but is naturally protected against pests by its essential oils. Without surface treatment, the wood is not particularly resistant to moisture and should not be used untreated outdoors.

• Furniture construction: Swiss stone pine is traditionally used for bedroom furniture, as the scent of the wood is said to promote sleep and relaxation. Beds, closets and chests of drawers made of Swiss stone pine are particularly popular.
• Interior fittings: wall cladding, ceilings and floors made of Swiss stone pine give interiors a warm, cozy atmosphere.
• Carvings & handicrafts: Due to its softness, Swiss stone pine wood is ideal for carving and is often used for artistic wooden decorations, figures and bowls.
• Sauna and wellness areas: The antibacterial effect and pleasant scent of Swiss stone pine make it an ideal wood for saunas, wellness rooms and relaxation rooms.
• Bedding & home accessories: In addition to solid pieces of furniture, Swiss stone pine wood shavings are also used for pillow fillings or scented cushions to spread the calming aroma.
