Color & grain

• Heartwood: The color ranges from dark brown to black, often with pronounced, contrasting stripes and wavy, marbled patterns. The grain can occasionally look almost like a landscape drawing.
• Sapwood: The sapwood is clearly defined and very light, almost creamy white to yellowish, which forms a nice contrast to the dark heartwood.
• Grain: Ziricote has a spectacular grain with irregular, dark lines and stripes that give the wood a unique, almost three-dimensional appearance. The texture is fine to medium coarse and very even.

• Handicrafts & woodturning: The wood is used for knife handles, writing instruments, jewelry boxes and other decorative objects.
• Veneers: Ziricote is often used as a veneer for high-quality furniture and interior fittings due to its unique appearance.
