• Sapwood: The sapwood is paler and ranges from light yellow to pale grey, but is usually removed during processing as it is less decorative than heartwood.
• Grain: Elm wood is characterized by a distinctive, often wavy grain that makes the wood very decorative and unique. This grain can appear in varying degrees, from straight lines to irregular and even wavy patterns. The texture is fine to medium and smooth.

• Durability: Elm has good natural resistance to moisture and pests. However, it is not as resistant as oak.

Frequent uses

• Furniture: Due to its beautiful grain and stable properties, elm wood is often used to make furniture such as tables, chairs and shelves. Elm is particularly popular for rustic and traditional pieces of furniture.
• Flooring: Elm is also used for parquet flooring and solid wood flooring, especially for areas where a robust yet visually appealing wood is required.
• Veneers: Due to its decorative grain and attractive coloring, elm is often used as veneer wood. The veneers are used in furniture and wall paneling to create an elegant, natural surface.
• Interior fittings: Elm is well suited for interior fittings, such as stairs, window frames and door panels. The flexibility and malleability of the wood make it ideal for complex designs and precise work.
