Paldao

Origin: Asia

Paldao | Paldao wood

Paldao is a tropical hardwood that is mainly found in West Africa. It belongs to the Fabaceae family and is valued for its strength, stability and attractive color. The wood is quite robust and is suitable for a variety of applications, both indoors and outdoors. Paldao is popular not only for its practical properties, but also for its distinctive grain and warm, reddish-brown coloring. It is often used in the furniture industry, for flooring and in shipbuilding.

Color & grain

  • Heartwood: The heartwood of Paldao is usually reddish-brown to deep brown in color, which can become slightly darker over time. Occasionally, golden or orange veins may also appear, which makes the wood particularly appealing.
  • Sapwood: Very light-colored and significantly paler in comparison to the heartwood. However, it is usually removed as it is of little importance for processing.
  • Grain: The grain is usually straight to slightly irregular, but it can also have decorative waves or flaming patterns that make the wood particularly unique. Due to this grain, it is highly valued for decorative applications and veneers.

Tree size & wood properties
